In 2012, an exhibition honoring the friendship between Japan and the United States was on display for a short time period, featuring works centering around Japan’s gift to America: Cherry blossom trees, or Sakura trees. The exhibition was held in Washington D.C., where 3,000 Sakura trees from Japan bloom every spring.
